several shops probably. Pixomondo LA (http://www.pixomondo.com) is one of them.

Roland Emmerich - who would have guessed?!

Epic is all he does - I wonder if he will ever lower the tone -

I love movies about the end of the world, why can't it happen for real for once?

Hydraulx and Digital Domain are another 2.

I guess the director of day after tomorrow cant find other interesting subjects other than the end of the world hehe.

I like the trailer. Somehow i think that our governments wouldn't bother to tell us if we were all gonna die.

Same here.

But one thing i hate is that in the end, the majority of humans manage to survive :). they could take a leaf out of titanic (if not for the credibility that if this was somehow real no one would really survive then do it on some crazy believe that if they take an element of titanic it might somehow bring them same amount profits. ).

Plus the thing that really make these movies interesting is the characters and how they deal with it.

The visual Effects are always a plus especially for people like us.

If you are looking for a good movie that does that, rent the Mist. :)

I wonder what the reason is behind the end of the world in this one. Isn't supposed to do with the Mayan calender (they must be going crazy because it ends in 2012 right?)

Kaptain Kubrick

I thought it was funny about the Mayan calender -

people will be thinking it'll be the end of the world and no one will believe them now because Mr Emmerich has made a movie about it. Really he is just as bad as the governments of the world - maybe they even funded it.

What will Roland Emmerich do to save us from 2012?

thats what I want to know.

I was wondering for a long while when a movie about 2012 would be made. Finally a movie Hollywood can make that they can't make a remake or a sequal to.

Agree. In a movie liket this nothing should survive.

SPOILER ALERT!

Somebody anonymously sent me the script summary:

HUUUUUUGE WAVE, roaaaaaar crashhhhh shhhhh!!! (Monk dead)

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuggge FIRE and METEORS CRASHING!! ROAAARRRRRR BOOOOM BANG!

HUUUUUUUUGEEEE WIND BLOWING everything away.

President of the United States (Will Smith again to match Obama look) getting into a f-18 Jet fighter.

Shoots rockets into the wave, fire and wind. BOOM CRASH BANG! Explosions.

Saves the world.

Over

(As you might guessed Roland stole the script from Michael Bay)

The question is... will Al Gore use shots of this movie in his next documentary and claim its real like he did with "Day After Tomorrow"?:D

Great teaser. I somehow doubt the whole movie will have this elegiac tone to it. Probably more likey to be the Will Smith/F-18/missiles scenario mentioned above.

I, too, have a weird fascination with end of the world movies. I suppose it's cathartic to think about your demise with no possible hope of surviving. It raises a lot of interesting questions about human nature and it's potential for salvation. Too bad it's Emmerich and not someone like Mike Leigh or Darren Aronofsky who is exploring this theme.

Instead of convincing ourselves that it will happen like that...Why not just throw some Aliens into the mix and let the whales fly off into outerspace?

I'd prefer to be watching a funny animation during the end of the world.
maybe with say... four or five girlfriends too.
Well you get the point.

I have always had a thing against zombies, they are not really scary they are just dumb, they are only menacing when they are in groups, but even then they are idiots.

this film looks like a prequel to 'waterworld'...which in my opinion was a pretty good film
i liked the idea of sparse dialogue that the film had.

**my problem with Waterworld can be summed up in 4 words:

NOT ENOUGH SHARK MONSTER.

They showed it for 2 seconds.

I liked that weird spastic guy on the boat who talked in jibberish.

Any idea on who's doing the effects for this one?

The main studio doing the work is Uncharted Territory. Scanline VFX is doing the water works. Pixomondo did the pre-vis and is working on some of the shots as well.

For the record Scanline VFX did all the composting work as well as all visual effects for this trailer.
