My initial idea at the moment is to do an adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk. Primarily, the beanstalk would be a mechanical lift, the giant would live in a floating futuristic island in the sky and be a very large mechanical robot himself. I'm going to spend the next couple weeks brainstorming and will post my "final" concept at that time.

Written Concept for "Jack and the Beanstalk"

- My Take on the Story -

JACK

Is a high tech theif. He has heard rumours that a floating sky fortress is the resting place of a mythical machine which is rumoured to produce solid gold orbs out of thin air.

BEANSTALK / MAJIC BEANS

The beanstalk is simply the mechanical lift Jack uses to reach the sky fortress. In place of majic beans, this particular lift runs on steam, but Jack aquires highly compressed water drops which rapidly evaporate when heated (bean shaped).

GIANT

A very large robotic giant placed on the sky fortress to protect the machine.

- Summary of "Story" -

Jack is clever theif who is known for using an assortment of hand crafted gadgets in order to steal priceless works of art or valuables. Jack finds himself in a small village, chasing down a rumour of a flying fortress. The tale goes that a giant who lives in the sky is guarding a machine which can produce solid gold orb from thin air.

Jack spends several years building a steam-operated lift at precisely the correct location in order to reach this floating fortress. He uses highly compressed water droplets to power the lift and shoots high into the sky.

There, he finds himself amongst the cloud, with a massive floating structure moving slowly towards him. Gouts of steam shoot out behind as it stays afloat, creating a new layer of clouds as it lumbers ever closer.

Once inside, Jack finds himself in a massive chamber with a shimmering gold device to the end. He rushes up to it, finding a pile of golden egg-shaped orbs strewn about. He lifts the machine from it's pedestle when a large rumble occurs.

Turning around, Jack sees an immense robot lurching to life. The glowing eyes looking down menacingly at the new found intruder...

Just some reference images which somewhat depict the overall style of the floating city and video in general

Just some various source images I will use as reference/inspiration when coming up with my characters.
