wow thank you man ! :)
you'll be great mate, can't wait to see what you come up with
11-18-2008, 02:05 PM
OK finally had five mins to think :)
i've decided i want to go for the four horsemen of the apocolypse. All horsemen and horses with be in keeping with their particular theme ( plague, war etc. ) Victoriana/punk styled clothing and they will be riding steam powered brass mechanical horses. got to work on the composition, placement of other characters.
11-19-2008, 11:02 AM
trying out a different composition, wasn't geting far with the other one. It was nice and dynamic but putting in the other 3 characters drew to much attention away.
looking forward to designing the guys :)
'War' may even be entirely mechanical, officer/ samuria steam robot. fun. haha
11-19-2008, 02:25 PM
ok , made a start on 'death' the theme will only be properly clear i guess when the mechanical horses are in.
still weighing up how to light it and such. long way to go!
11-19-2008, 02:37 PM
oh dood that looks sweet :)
kinda a cross of johnny depps "deadman" and "evil dead III"
11-19-2008, 02:55 PM

11-20-2008, 11:03 AM

11-20-2008, 11:23 AM

11-21-2008, 10:17 AM

here's the close up you asked for :) i'm thinking he's possibly about half done ( not including colour/contrast etc balancing )
the face looks bad ass! the mouth kind of reminds me of iron maiden covers, which are badass as well. love the way you are treating your image.

12-12-2008, 10:12 AM
well another busy week and i've bearly touched it :/ getting left behind by everyone.
12-12-2008, 10:33 AM
nice! just thinking that gun looks a bit long and heavy for him to be stretching his arm out like that, Particularly as the handle is so short in comparison to how long the gun is... and it doesn't look like he has the muscles to hold it up.
12-12-2008, 11:17 AM
i see what you mean, maybe a more upward angle would be good, also the line may draw attention to the centre of the image more ?
12-12-2008, 12:34 PM
yeah an upward angle might be good with his arm bend r something... of course you could argue that he has undead, godly strengh, but it still looks awkward as it is... mainly i think because of how short the guns handle is... almost looks like it will slip out of his hand. i can not tell if draws attention away from the central image of death as havent sene full pic with all elements.
Anyway one of my fav entries so far, dont want to sound like i am nit picking and i know you have just roughed that pose in... just wanted to share my thoughts before you started detailing
12-16-2008, 09:52 AM
:D gee thanks ! :D
sure man :) i'll sort it out! MUST work on it today!
12-16-2008, 10:18 AM
Hey this is very cool.I like the pose of both characters and clothes really brings a steampunk feel to the image.
Waiting for more updates
12-16-2008, 10:31 AM
next charqacter to go in :)
Pestulance: going for a gas mask/locust look. i'm thinking locust will be swarming from his robe...
12-16-2008, 11:40 AM
Micro26 : thanks man, maybe i should bring the cloak some how more inkeeping with the other guys ?
12-17-2008, 03:11 PM
Its becoming great.
I like the pestulance desing. Maybe some medical bandages on him and some rats going with him will reforce the idea of pestulance.
keep it up!!!
12-18-2008, 09:02 AM
bandages, oo didn't think of that , cool ta :)
going to havelocusts swaming out of his cloak. maybe even brass ones! :/
12-24-2008, 12:28 PM
Excellently weird work Neubius, I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes. How are you doing the colours of the horses; if I'm not mistaken Death's should be pale and War's is red (perhaps some sort of rich Victorian rusty colour)?
12-29-2008, 05:35 PM
hey thanks man :)
ah the colours, yes your right. i looked in to the colours when i started but mangaed to forget all about it. yeah i eckon making wars' horse have more dirty rust would be a great idea, maybe adding some kind of ivory inlays on deaths' may be cool ?
thanks man, really usefull :D
12-29-2008, 05:36 PM
oh, Merry Christmas every one !
if you like that kind of thing :)
01-06-2009, 10:10 AM

01-08-2009, 03:54 PM

Cant wait to see the others horsemans.
keep it up:beer:
01-09-2009, 12:12 PM
thanks man. yeah, i'm determind to finish this time ! going to have to boogy!
updates as soon as the site is working properly again :)
01-12-2009, 08:45 AM
getting there a little at a time :/
still no design for 'famine' though..
01-12-2009, 03:58 PM
That's looking very good and with the deadline extended I'm sure you'll get there.
I think Famine has an almost Darwin-like beard in the Durer woodcut of the Four Horsemen. Beards are very Victorian.
Or you could make Famine a very prim and proper Victorian lady. Though don't blame me if your picture becomes too hideous.
Death's scythe handle is perhaps a little thin for that wopping great blade.
01-13-2009, 08:33 AM
EWiLB : thanks man! :) yeah with the extended deadline i reckon i'll ake it now ! yay
i'm liking the victorian lady idea, think i'll go with that, i'm not afraid of the hideous :D haha
nice one mate.
01-13-2009, 09:17 AM
Nicely painted characters. I am sure it is pretty tough to come up with different design horses and try to stick with the steampunk theme. Waiting to see more progress. You're just like me trying to get finished hehe. Good luck with finishing.
01-14-2009, 07:48 AM
beelow : thanks man :) hee yeah, same as always trying to fit this in around work! worth it tho, Fun! :D
good luck mate
01-14-2009, 09:12 AM

01-14-2009, 11:26 AM
mrpeace: thanks man :)
Hey, it seems we've chosen the same myth. But your version is completely different than mine. Interesting to see what can be done with one and the same myth. Good luck to you. Looks good so far. :)
01-14-2009, 03:08 PM
hey thanks man! :D cool lemme go check yours out :)
02-04-2009, 09:37 AM
Ah well ! just didn't have the time again! :( between various projects at work and training myself up in Max everynight, i just couldn't get it done. no worries i'll finish this up just for my portfolio soon.
it's been a pleasure painting along side you good people as always :) as soon as i have 5 minutes i'll zoom around and look at every ones entries.
Awesome work all over the place, good luck all !
