I have found many closed threads on this topic and most of them had no replies so i am going to create a new one. I apologize if its a repetition nightmare for admins and moderators.

I am using Maya 2008.
I am following a video tutorial for reference. I am creating my own model not the one in the video. I followed the video exactly. It has me duplicate my polygon model convert one of those polygon model to subdiv. I then us the other polygon model to layout my uv's. Then i copy the uv layout of my polygon model to subdiv model(the subd model is in polygon mode) using Mesh>Copy Mesh attributes.

Then it instructs to create a psd network. I have used psd networks before. I know they work and work great.

Here is the issue. When i select my model either the polygon uvlayout model or the subd model and i create a psd network, the attribute menu is blank(see attached). I cannot create a network without attributes cause it gives me this error:
// Error: Attributes have not been selected. Select Attributes.

I can create a psd network on the original polygon model or any other objects. I know i could use a uv snapshot or even import it into zbrush but i want to us the psd network lol.
I think thats everything.
Can anyone help me????

Thanks in advance

Hey Mate, im sorry but i cant help you. I have the same problem here and cant figure out what it is.
I hope getting this post to first page hopefully gets someone to post an idea here whats going wrong.
I already sent a bugreport to autodesk 2day and i hope there will be a reply. Even on Autodesks AREA this topic has been posted several times.
And it seems that this is a problem with 8.5, 2k8 and even 2k9 (my version).

Im not sure if this is a bug or something like that anyway. Maybe its just a kind of error in workflow or something like that. Im gonna try couple of things and try to figure out what it could be.
Try earlier versions of the file and so on. Im gonna post here again.

Cheers.

EDIT: lol, just right after this post i got it somehow.
The way i tried to do it was this: first i was in the UV Editor view and changed to UV selected all the shells and then i tried to create the PSD network. This didnt work.

Then i loaded an older file and just clicked on the object and the attributes were there.

I reloaded the actual file again and did same way by just clicking on the object instead of selecting the uv shells (object in persp view for example) and there are the attributes again.
I hope this was the failure. If not, ill let you know ;) !

Yeah i tried reloading an earlier instance of it and yeah it works. I reloaded my currrent model and it does not work. I think it has to do with the process i used to get to where i am. thanks for the info tho
