hi commy, looking better, although i would look at the general face shape, because it seems a bit off from the reference, this is my interpretation anyways... hope it helps

Its getteing there - still a few problems. ie: the nose and the jaw.

SimianLogic
06-15-2003, 11:45 PM
I think the problem with your nose is that it doesn't have nostrils the way it should. It's just one round projection at the front. In the reference pick the center bulge (for lack of a better term) projects a little farther down and the two nostrils are set further back from it. Hope that helps.

The eyes and forehead are crucial, and they don't look right yet...

Its looking much better - though it still doesnt really resemble Hugo yet. I think its the cheeks maybe.

Hey,

Looks like a great start man.
I myself am also modeling him for a sertain project.
And I have to admid he has a hard face to model.

I think the problem ya got lies with the reference image you are using.
I don't know where you got that image but it ardly looks like Hugo.
let me provide you with some good reference.
copy thos images if you like em because I don't entend on keeping them on my webspace much longer. :)

http://www.metagons.com/Hugofront.jpg http://www.metagons.com/Hugoside.jpg

They arn't a 100% correct but it's close. :)

commy

thanx man yah references are hard to find and the variety of his facial expressions is huge his whole face contorts lol anyways ill keep working away :) ta

commy

commy
06-17-2003, 01:29 AM
nother update mostly minor tweaks on the nose eye area and cheeks also did some quick lit renders so u can see the shading a bit better :)

commy
06-17-2003, 02:21 AM
added more facial features, this man has a face that looks different from every angle lol next stage is to try and get the outline fixed cus he slost his rigidness anyways bedtime so no updates for a few hours!

koinu
06-17-2003, 02:41 AM
the nose looks alot better than before... Keep it up, I would say that he is missing cheek bones although Hguo does have a cheek boneless face. Can see why he is hard to model. Guess it's my turn... NEW THREAD: Do your fav. Matrix Character

commy
06-17-2003, 11:47 PM
added his ears the areas are still clustered so the materials wonky but u get the idea :) wnated to post some updates for people, trying to get the cheek/jaw area sorted now the ears are on

For a head - it looks really good, but for me it doesnt really resemble Hugo. Kinda looks like a mid-40's man tho.

Cant really suggest anything other than watching him loads on LOTR, and looking at ref material to compair facial structures.

it's improved alot since the first post! Keep going man!

commy
06-18-2003, 02:43 AM
cheers dude :) nother update looking more hugoy i believe :) slowly getting there of course alot of hugos features are in his eye brows anyways here ya go

commy
06-18-2003, 03:23 PM
added some hair, this is just to aid me with his facial structure to try and get his face right its NOT the hair he is gonna have!

rquinn
06-18-2003, 03:28 PM
nice hair
whats the plugin
yeah theres still something wrong to make him look like him
he looks more like that guy in mystery men
you know the one with the shovel

commy
06-18-2003, 03:38 PM
not seen that anywho ta, no plugin its xsi's native hair and its just on low quality and not styled to well so the final will be alot better :)

great improvments

one thing to add, you might want to push the skin forward a little below the edges of his mouth

Obraxis
06-18-2003, 03:54 PM
If you use the ref images against your latest, you can see where you need to fix your mesh:

http://www.cgbox.com/misc/hugoside.jpg

As you can see, the mouth area, and forehead and the ear are all out of position.

commy
06-18-2003, 04:24 PM
rotate the referenced image slightly i rotate the mesh i post forwards to mimike his photo pose ull find the variances decrease

commy
06-19-2003, 06:16 PM
sorry no updates for a few days had some other things to sort out anyways here ya go its slowly looking more like him but very slow anyone got any ideas?

I cant really give u any constructive criticism, except that and i really dont mean to be harsh, but to me he doesnt resemble hugo weaving at all, at this point. I cant point out specific areas that need improvement, since the whole face looks off to me.

For a head its pretty nice indeed, but for a hugo weaving, it does not im afraid.

sorry for the lack of constructive critiscm

mora
06-19-2003, 09:47 PM
heres is the reference I used.I made smith without eyes though, but my model is more game standard so I did'nt care mush about the eyes. But if you wanna make Hugo weaving as that lord of the rings character than you might need to make sone eyes.see ya

commy
06-19-2003, 11:29 PM
interesting tho ure shapes are a way off im going for real so the modle needs to be right before i use any textures, game models relay on textures as does ure sit seems (can we see a shaded view with no textures?!) btw i think ure smith looks better than the game modle ive seen :)

ive sene the scan before but personaly dont think it looks a thing like him so i disgregarded it not sure why its bene scanned so it must be him yet doesnt look like him at all lol anyways thanx guys :)

mora
06-19-2003, 11:43 PM
however I do feel the scan really does look like him.Only that its distorted by the perspective view does this look like em?

commy
06-19-2003, 11:47 PM
yup hes an odd face capable of extreme distortion as for the scan perspective is all u cna say cus theres no wya its round enough

Nice work so far! I also agree that Hugo probably has a hard face to model, mainly because his look is so unique. Anyway, I was wondering if you could post some wires along with your updates. I'm trying to get help on my own face modeling project, and haven't had many takers. (Apparently, no one likes to view non-celeb threads. :p) Not trying to plug my own thread, mind you... I'm only saying this because I think it might be able to help me with my progress if I could see the wires on your progress. Maybe it'll give me some insight into what your process is, and I might be able to adapt it to my own.

Keep up the good work! :)

(BTW, the hair does help him look a little more Hugo. :p)

I a little better - but it still has issues. I think the jaaw and ear maybe need tweaked for size/position, and maybe the forehead.

commy
06-26-2003, 03:58 AM
been awhile, still working on the face added the glass lenses to help get the look right as u can see the face shape isnt right amongst other things. C&C welcomed!
