Hi everyone!

This is a picture I drew last year.
It's painted in Photoshop 7

suggestions and helpful critique are welcome.

click here for a 1600X1200 version (http://www.area-56.de/pics/robot_wallpaper.jpg)

Here are some WIP steps

1. concept sketch

2. chosen the basic colors

3. created alpha masks for each body part

4. started painting the body parts on seperate layers

5. full body painted

6. added details (scratches, typo, dirt etc.)

finished!

Wow, thats very very well painted. The textures are very well done. I think you should try to put it onto a background, that would really tie the image together. As far as suggestions go, i think the Guns opening is a little out of perspective, doesnt see, like u should beable to see as much inside the barrel as you can. Might just be me. Good Job forsure.

>Dustin_Senos

I thought about painting a background. May be I will draw a BG next month. About the canon...
I think you're right. The inside of the barrel is too dark.
I'll fix it when I draw the BG.

awsome,
only crit is that the right foot could be more 3d/inperspective, instead of flat.

but it doesnt hurt the overall picture.

good good job!

puddlefish
06-16-2003, 09:02 AM
great drawing, your ps technique is good and clean, but your perspective is off. as already mentioned, the right foot is too flat. also, your circular forms in general are off, including the gun barrel, the eyes and the round parts on the shoulder. as well as this, the perspective you've used to exaggerate the length of the left leg isn't applied to the rest of the body, which makes it look like the left leg is a good bit longer than the right.
also, the left hand is emerging from under the armoured fourarm at the wrong angle.

hope this helps!

Gee. Today I beat up Goro cause he finally received one hell of a new MicroR/C car and now this, Goro is in the gallery. :bounce:

Way too cool. I also saw the Photoshop layers, it really IS hand made.

Hmm, I better go kick him in the ass again, maybe he will post some of his other fantastic work.

Still waiting for Kong (his+friends CG Short) , keep on working.
You are the man.

Once again man, you've got skillz, lighten up the dark area in the cannon, and adjust the feet some as mentioned, and you have once extremely solid piece.

You have received the CGtalk choice award .Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! Great work!

upon receiving this award, it guarantees you a spot in the cgtalk gallery hall of fame (http://gallery.cgtalk.com) - which you are now placed

This is good~` you had me fooled.. I thought it was 3d.
The shoulder colors gave it away though. you can see it's 2d from there. ( Are you aiming for the 3d look?)
as people mentioned before the legs are a bit out of proposion.
The cannon looks great~
