View Full Version : Maya does not like my JPEGs

I'm currently using Maya Complete 5.0. I've been having a problem importing JPEG files to use as maps.

In Hypershade, when I try to import certain JPEG images as file textures, I get an error message stating that the "IMF did not recognize image file."

This only happens with images I've been creating in Photoshop, then saving as JPEGs, not with every JPEG file. Some import no problem.

It seems like when I'm saving my files, I'm forgetting a step or something, and Maya doesn't like it. I can't seem to figure it out

It'll read Targas no problem, no matter how I save 'em.

If anyone has any advice, or knowledge to share, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks.

Stych.

Your probably saving as the wrong type of jpeg. Maya doesn't read progressive jpg files. You should stick with tga or some lossless texture file for textures anyways.

You were right. I was saving my JPEG's as progressive and I didn't even realize it. Thanks!

I do like to use Targas normally, but they tend to get really big file-size wise.
