View Full Version : Hmc #17 - Star Wars Steampunk - R2d2
TCPortfolio 11-07-2008, 03:03 PM Hey guys, it's probably too late, but, I was admiring the great work in this awesome challenge, and, it inspired me to do my own. I've decided to specialize in modeling, so, this will be good for me considering I am pretty much a newbie. I'd love some feedback; I have a very primitive WIP on r2D2 here.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh223/Treytrumpet1/WIP2-withcloseup.jpgHere is the latest WIP. Ignore the geometry approximation setup for now, it's going haywire on me. I'll set that up after I'm finished modeling. Anyway, this is a good idea where I'm going with the model. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and helpful. Thanks for the encouragement DDS.

Here is the basic model I have come up with. Any suggestions/critiques from you pros?

I've added some "gadgets" that lend themselves to being steampunkish. I'm also planning on adding some hoses and possibly another valve somewhere on R2. I'd love some feedback so I can make him better! Any thoughts from anyone?

It's looking good so far, but poor R2 is missing his eye thingy.
Add some more stuff to the body and the top. panels, rivets, vents, anything to give it more character than just a smooth body. Maybe try to work a small steam engine on his pack for his power source.

Oh man, thanks for the suggestions! It's deadline time, and I'm no where near finished. Doesn't look like I'm going to make it guys. What a cool challenge though; and, it looks like we'll get another chance to do something else in steampunk! I'll probably finish R2 some other day. Thanks for the feedback and encouragement everyone. It was fun.
