Hello there,

having a bit of problems with my animation assignment; Basically, I've keyframed my character from frame 1 and have more or less finished the animation.

I've decided now to add more frames before my character begins his actions and that's where my problem comes in; there doesn't seem to be an easy way for me to do the character at the new keyframe 1 without him trying to leap over to the next keyframe (which I've set arbitarily @ 280).

EG. At the new keyframe 1, he is set to run..

at key frame 8, where he should basically, be set to do the followup step, he decideds to zip off somewhere inplausible making the keyframing for the running motion inplausible. I've tried Clamping the keys, splining (but it is a pain to have to clamp, respline after every keyframe) The only solutions left for me is to duplicate my file (record the settings/values for the first keyframe) and basically start a new scene and keyframe from scene 01.

PROBLEM WITH THAT... My scene has moving waves/ocean and the problem with this set up is that, the waves will not line up properly.

I hope that makes sense. Help?

No one? There has to be a simple solution or is it because I was unclear on what has to be done?

Umm, here's the question again, maybe rephrased to make sense.

Q:

HOW DO I insert keyframes before an existing animation and still be able to make the animation work?

The central problem I am experiencing is the fact that as existing animation has been keyed, the character/graph propels the character to tween the inbetween frames (when I need him to be neutral) and makes the tweaking/animation difficult.

alphabetic example

new key frame postion = a

existing keyframe position = m

when new keyframe is inserted, it should fit in at b (behind a)
but because of the graph, the next frame pops in automatically at e, an automatic tweening between a and m

Well you have tons of way of doing this
first the easiest one is start your new animation at frame -50 (for exemple ) and do a new animation then in the render globals you ask to renumber frame so that -50 become frame 1 for exemple(in the renumber part).

Or you can use the dopeSheet and push all the keyframes to the start you need .

Finaly you can right click in your timeline, and use add inbetween that will had one frame where ever you want..so in this case click before frame 1..that's it...

You still have a way to do it with the trax but hey I think that now you'll be fine.

Hope I answered right.

Cheers
