Hi guys, welcome to the Wednesday Night Comic Creators Club thread.

The idea of this series of week long threads is to be an incubator for your sequential
art ideas. This mean you can post ANYTHING that will facilitate the creation of your comic. (This means ideas, scripts, Concept Art, Finished art ) for:

One panel Strip
Three to Four Panel Strips
Comic Book
Storyboards (NEW!)
Think of it of a club within the forum for people who WANT to do comics.

GENERAL RULES:

Every Wednesday night a new week long thread will be posted on the CGTalk Daily Sketch Forum (http://forumdisplay.php/?f=130) called:Wednesday Night Comic Creators Club XXX: MONTH YEAR

This will be the CORE thread, created by the moderator, (that would be me)

You can post on the core thread anything you want as long as it related a to a sequential art idea
If yo ualready have a web comic, well SHOW IT to us..
WIP entries should be on the artists WIP thread. This thread might be hosted on the WIP forum OR...the Member SKETCH Collection (http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=272)
This is a thread to allow creators to have fun so please feel free post your Comments
IF and only IF we gather enough interest we might start doing voting for:

Best Writing
Best Story
Best Art
Most Updates
Most Views (IE Highest ratings: I want to keep track on who has been getting the highest number of hits on the WIP thread for the comic...more on this later
Keep this in mind.
A monthly comic book has 24 pages. And in order to have enough material for a graphic novel you should need to do 6 issues of a comic.

24 * 6 = 144 pages

This is why most pros do a at least a page a day.

And please if you do comic book, do it in multiple of 2.

My advice, KEEP IT SIMPLE

If you think you can't to a full comic book, do a 3 - 4 panel
newspaper strip. 5 - 10 updates a month are more than enough in my book.
And if you are going to do a comic book, do short stories first , since they usually have
4 to 6 pages. Think Twilight Zone, Tales from the Crypt or Amazing Stories for inspiration.
Good luck

-R

Here's another Doof comic :)

Ep06 - Doof catches a lift

I'm not that happy with this one. I'm thinking I could come up with a more readable/clearer/funnier conclusion. If there are any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

That was great!

I like the format of your comics...But have you considered maybe using Illustrator to ink and color them?

I bet that at the rate you are going, in no time, you could have enough comics for a collection.

Yet another panel emerges from my morbid brain :D

LOL! Jelo and Windmill, awesome and both hilarious!!!

@Windmill, I got to panel 5 and then saw 8 below it (and didn't see anything else) and almost choked I laughed so hard. I think for me, the idea that perhaps all Doof had to do was eat the extra weight and everything was solved was funny enough.

@Windmill again: So, if you replaced panel 4 with 5 and moved panels 7 & 8 to 5 & 6 spots (dumping panels 4, 6 & 9), the whole thing would flow and impact fast and still say the same thing.

@Roberto: Thanks, I have considered vectorizing and colour. I'm not sure, something about the scribbly lines and lack of colour I find charming :)

I dunno, I may vectorize them at one point in the future. If I were to colour them I would choose a very muted, watercolourish palette.

@FRENZIEDmind: Thanks, I might do what you suggested. I was originally planning the joke to be Doof's burp released so much gas that it decreased the weight but I don't think that's clear or funny at all. I agree, the simple fact that Doof consuming the man releasing the weight is funnier, clearer and more concise. The physical impossibility also adds to the humour.

And here's one more :D

Funny stuff Jelo! I like those candle holders. Nice looking teeth too! Awesome surface textures and coloring!

This is all I have so far. Been struggling with several ideas (and trying to end the Pair-of-Dummies arc), attempting to make something entertaining while keeping myself interested as well. I've been toying with "The Habanero" concept for several years. I think I found a happy place for it finally. :)
