Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone out there who knows A LOT about dynamic simultion could give me a hand with something that I can't seem to figure out....

Here's the situation:
I need to create a twig that has a ball and string tied to the end. The ball and string need to be dynamic so that I don't have to animate the whole thing by hand. All that needs to happen is - when the twig moves around, the ball bounces around on the string accordingly.

Something like this:
________
|
|
O

(Just like a paddle-ball.)

I've tried just about everything and I always run into problems.
If you could give any ideas, step-by-step, or even a scene file, that would be great.

Thanks a ton :wavey:

Try this tutorial out:

It may give you a good start.

Hey, thanks a lot Ed, but I ended up getting the effect I wanted using some modified CLOTH SIMULATION. I used special clusters for each different part of the object, giving the parts of the string and the ball different dynamic principles.

Here's the test video: DynSim1.zip (http://www.planethalflife.com/boxwar/DynSim1.zip) I think you might be surprised with the results.

If anyone wants this scene to check it out, just email me at PlanetSun@juno.com.

Impressive!
But this is not a rope, it rather seems to be a half stiff rubberband.

Best Regards!
