View Full Version : Tips on how to achieve these effects

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how some of the effects in this video are achieved.

First one starts at 0.06 and ends at 0.09. You can see the kite in the air is kind of leaving a trail.
Second one stats at 2:25 and goes to 2:28. You can see the clip pause, then the viewing angle morph round with the background blurred and then the video continues at a different angle. I assume from 2 different camera I just would like some tips on how I would go about achieving these effects.

Time Remapping with a decent plugin like Twixtor, not AE's own tools plus some sort of morphing, I'd say. Certainly requires at least 2 cameras.

is there a tutorial on how to do morphing with 2 cameras?
or would u be able to explain a bit further?
thanks a lot...
im looking to shoot something similar with a golfer. where he upswings (cranks back the club) we freeze pan around 45° as he downswings, hits the ball.
how should i set this up if i have total control over it. and 5 months to do it.

waouh, 5 months ?
Go for a camera mapping, then.
as he said, 2 cameras filming the same scene at the same time with a different angle. make a simple model of the golfer, camera map that golfer make a transition, and here you are, perfect transition.
If you don't know how to use 3d programs and camera mapping.... well forget about what I said ^^

hmm...why would i have to make a model of the golfer?
can u explain this a little clearer with the camera mapping...
the most camera mapping i have done is the vanishing point in photoshop/after effects
but i do have 5 months to learn this....

well, camera mapping means that you map 3d models using a camera.
vanishing point is just a really simple camera mapping.
In a "real" camera mapping, one has to model the scenery (and characters) using the 2 original cams in any 3d prog of your choice, be it 3dsmax, maya, xsi (damn autodesk) or blender...
When the models are made and that they match the 2 cameras, one projects the image as a texture though the 2 cameras. That way you have a 3d scene that has the textures of the cam...
finally, one would just have to make a transition between these two cameras...
Bah, I work in BUF and can't even explain this simply, ahahah
