Hi,
This is my recent *nearly* done piece. I wanted to achieve a somewhat realistic image ( almost photo-real ), or at least to look 3d.
It was harder than I thought lol, so if you have any notes or advice to push this further please feel free to tell :wise:
oh and it was made with photoshop.

The saddle looks like it is being held up with super glue...There needs to be some visual fastening system...
It is also positioned oddly on the T-Rex. It looks like a french beret poised on the side of his head...

The rider's position looks very unnatural. Perhaps repositioning his leg to be clinging more to the T-rex...think bull riding in the rodeo or elephant riding...

There's also a logic problem with the saddle placement. Would you want to be so far up the head that you could easily be thrown off. In the present position, the T-Rex looks at something to its left, and down falls the rider.

As CyberGfx pointed out, a more natural position would be between the shoulder blades. That places the rider controlling the head at the base of the neck.

Hi Jassar - my 6 year old insisted I type out his comments as well, thus the post above :-)

I'd like to see a bit more details in the background, and get rid of that motion blur - it makes it look like an old comic cover. Also, the teeth have by far the highest value/contrast and sharp edges - either tone them down a tad or increase the detailing in the rest of the TRex and rider (which would be my preference)

very interesting idea, hav to work more on the anatomy especially both arms, something wrong with the foreshortening of ur rider's right arm

Hi Jassar,

I really like the idea and the progress so far, fantastic.

You have a dilemma regarding the position of the rider don't you. Do you move him down as suggested above, giving him less profile than the current position (right now he is the owner of this dinosaur) or do you leave him where he is and have the argument of natural position when riding a prehistoric creature....Could a swing of the t-rex's neck swing him off? Tough call and the truth is, it's impossible to say as you cannot observe a T-Rex nor see someone riding him. My personal preference is leave him where he is.

His right arm looks out of proportion and the right shoulder is sitting too high even if he is performing that grapling move on the rope. As darcy mentioned you need to up the detials on the other objects in the scene or tone down the teeth some.

Overall though I think its great, nice work on the T-rex especially.

Cheers,

Thanks a million for the comments guys, really appreciate them :) , I will try to fix things as much as I can.
To be honest the rider was a pain, as Pash said, I wanted him just to look cool and seem as though he really knows how to ride an un-ridable thing! most likely I won't move him ( it's hard to do that now ) but I'll try refining him... adding some support behind him perhaps?

I focused mostly on the Rex, I just love um, and I'm better at dino anatomy than human lol.

new updates coming soon :)

Just wanted to let you know that I liked the final image. The arrows are a nice touch that completes everything. The rider now looks like he's deliberately sliding into that odd position so he doesn't get hit. It's a nice painting.

Nice painting

It would be nice if an arrow was stuck in the animal tongue, or between a couple of teeth or something...
