yeah, levitateme's way will rotate the camera. if you're wanting to rotate the imageplane thats something else completely and i haven't figured out how to do that... anybody have ideas on that?

i tried wraith, i cant figure it out either. i never needed that though. sorry
In the panel menu, goto View -> camera Tools -> Tumble tool options - > In the Orthographic section, Untick " Locked"
Then, you can rotate the orthographic view, and it'll keep the image plane alligned.
Hope it helps! ;)

Out of curiousioty, why would you want to rotate an orthographic viev in the first place ?

thanks ceql!!!
the cross: modeling in perspective sucks! and sometimes you have to see something from another angle than from the front or side.( i do anyway)
that lock has been pissing me off ...!!!:buttrock:
nps! Remember that you can reduce the amount of perspective distortion on a perspective camera by changing the Focal length (higher = less distortion) ;)

If tracing a picture, then perspective would suck.
But in terms of modeling, making something in perspective is for real deal artist, that know what they are doing. Perspective modeling allows you to rotate effortlessly while you are bending or peicing together your model. Orthagraphic views work best when they are left enligned with the XYZ axis.
For me rotating a front, side or top view anywhere inbetween 45 degrees, just to look at it seems useless. So i ask again, "Why would anyone want to rotate an Orthagraphic view".
An answer to my question would be better than an opinion this time.

not sure about that unless he just wants to flip the camera to go from the front to the back or from the right side to the bottom side or maybe he wants to go from looking at the top of the mesh to the bottom. thats the only thing i can think of... being able to rotate the imageplanes on the other hand would enable you to skip the photoshop step every now and again.

if you have for instance a tube that is not parallell to any of the x,y or z planes, and you want too look at it so that you just see a circle of points youre @£$4£@ if your in perspective view because the vertices are displayed closer to each other when theyre further away.
if you use perspective view you get lines of vertices that you have to select one at a time.
if you use orthographic view you can select all the points along the tube at once because theyre displayed as one...
