Hey guys,

I am working on the latest sound clup for the 11 second club. I am still early in the process, but I have worked out most of the blocking. Timing is still every 10 frames.

If you can, give me some thoughts / crits on the poses and timing of the character.

Thanks

When I go to your link, it says I don't have permission to watch the video.

I played around a bit with this today. Not much progress but a little is better than none. I started adding facial animation and tweaking a few of the keys.

I am pushing into overlapping motion a bit sooner than usual and doign the facial work in pieces. Just having a little fun.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

hey I like it nice motion to the lady... from 7-12 are you going to do anything with the hands?

I can imagine the right hand going up to the forehead and springing off?!?!

good so far

Hey Micha,

Thanks for the comment. I think you hit on something there. I think a gesture with the hands wuold work out nicely. I'll try something and see if it works out.

Thanks

Hi ankheilw,

I think it is looking pretty good. One thing I think you can do is a pass on is the hands. When he says "here tonight" and his right hand goes out - I think you could give it some overlap. Like it is pointing in the direction it came from. Then have the overlap happen on "was". Same think goes for the right hand in "I wanted to..." the large arc with both hands, the overlap seems off. When he says "young lady" when the right arm comes back again it looks like it would be on the way up and needs the overlap going back in the other direction. Only other thing was, it may be interesting to have the dip at the end happen more on "nit", right now it seems a little late to me. HTH. Looking good.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the comments. I am still working on it, but I haven't had much time to update the animation. Check out the latest at:

Thanks again for the crits. I'll work on this a bit today and see what I can incorporate.

Hey, I've actually entered this contest myself (its my first one as a matter of fact) and have been receiving some great tips from people on that site. I think I'm in a similar place as you though in learning animation, so I thought I'd just share a few of the tips I've been receiving that seem applicable. Hope this helps.

The character seams to flow between the different poses and this takes away from having a dynamic performance. Contrast the poses more, have him hold a specific thought at times and this will make an energetic gesture all that more powerful. When he's holding this pose, his body doesn't need to be moving or anything like that, you'd be surprised how much expressiveness you can pack into these holds through smaller elements like the shaking of a hand in anger.

Using fingers to indicate elements of the dialogue such as numbers seems to be taking the easy way out...try to find another way to express this, such as when he says the word "Two Fold" his arms are folded in front of him and he suddenly becomes aware of this.

Looking forward to seeing more, keep pushing forwards :)
