Hi there!

Long time since ive posted here, but i'm having some difficulty finding out about this.

Someone has asked me if i could upscale sd material to 2k output, in order for them to transer it to film stock.
In this case, it would be about cinema advertisements.

Are there "ways" to do this properly, aside from simply stretching the material in a new composition i have no idea how to do this, or if there is special software for the job.

Thanks for the help!

unless you scale the footage there is no way to do this.

Most theaters for the pre-show ads have a video projector that uses a mirror projection. this helps in hiding the artifacts that would show if you just straight projected a scaled version of the footage on screen. I did some of these ads for companies here in Canada and thats what they requested, i think it was scaled to half HD and then projected using the mirror projectors and it looked fairly good. In the end stretching the footage and paying to have an expensive transfer onto film is going to be a waste because it will actually look whorst and cost more.
