Hola,

I'm wondering what the majority of you use to encode your CG footage in order to show it on the web. I've been sampling QTP (h.264, MP4 and Sorrenson 3) but the the resolution is drastically reduced and my animations look blotchy.

I've used the 'Animation' codec (millions of colors +) but then my files are "reduced" to 1GB. I usually encode again with Flash 8 and that brings it down to about 150mb but that's still pretty big.

Any tips/advice on what to use? Because I see some really sharp footage that don't seem to take long to stream at all... wondering what the best process what/is.

Thanks!

I try and use the best quality possible to start with DVCPro50, quicktime uncompressed etc then encode to flash. I tend to use a resolution of 512x288 for my flash movie as this gives me half size video (originally 1024x576 16:9 square pixel PAL) at a bit rate of 512kb video and 192kb audio. This is a good compromise between quality and streaming.

Hope this was of some help.

Good luck.

I tend to use ffmpeg as my converting software as this gives me v good results. There is a GUI version called winff, definitely worth a look.
