Been working on this character for a while, finally got most of his body normal mapped tonight.

The normal mapped face has a pretty good likeness to the actor whose name escapes me at the moment. Neil something, wasn't it? His torso seems a little wide compared to his legs, and his pants seem like they're kind of retired-person high up on the hips. Still, looking good.

the paints are a bit high the shirt should probably be wider towards the bottom and not the top near the shoulders. can't see any thing else right now. good start!

Sam Neill ;) Im modelling him based on the first movie:

It was actually really hard getting good references for him, there are very few decent pics online, and in the end i bought the DVD. I had to use Fraps to capture screenshots, and then use photoshop to stretch them to the correct aspect ratio. Even then they werent great. It was suprisingly hard getting his face right, i dont know why, i think he just has an unusual face shape.

Yeah, i had noticed the trousers are a little off, i need to re-run the normal map for it with a belt included, so i can alter the mesh and mapping coords then. I also need to tweak his sleeves, they are too long. I will also tweak his torso. Thanks for the input.

Feet and hat are done. Just doing some tweaks to the face (getting the projection modifier over the ears properly is proving more difficult) then i can start texturing.

This is looking good so far. There does seem to be something strange about how the torso and legs look together, but this should be fixed when you've altered the trousers. Only other thing I can see is a few 5-sided polys on the forehead which are easily fixed. Other than that, good work!

Hi, good start "BUT", you have really problem with proportions which are off. For example, short arms. Next problem is distribution of polygons. If you would like to skin it in this time, it will have so strange deformations areas, so try it to fix, so many polygons in eyes are really bad. Face topology is not good too. Normal map have a little details, you should add some. Ok, i hope that i didn't discourage you from it.:)

Got some new renders. Tried to fix the proportions, you where right yenkee and ninjastickman, they did look wrong. Now he seems much better proportioned, the feet may be a bit small i realise now, but that is easily fixed.

Also i test-rigged most of his body, it deforms "fairly okay", but there is much to be improved. Yenkee - what parts in particular did you think would deform badly?

Got some texturing done, but none are finished yet.

hi, for example mimic/face part, you have bad distribution of polygons in this area, around mouth. Try to look at this whole topology, Body and head. http://www.fx81.com/PERSONAL/GameSF_W.jpg Better work with polygons and he haven't more polys than he need.
And you have some 5 vertex polygons. Usually, in game industry we used to use 3 or 4 vertex polygons. By the way nice work with head texture. If you will continue with it you can give a structure of face details to normal map. It'll be look better.
