hi,

i am using mayaPLE to create static mesh's for the game ut2003...

i have saved a scene containing several seperate poly mesh's, recently by mistake i have subdivided one of them then saved it. - because face count is an issue to me, this is not what i want.

first of all, is there a way i can un-subdivide a poly model with no history?

my second option was to import the affected mesh from a previous save, but this has a problem of its own..... the hypershade now has double the materials used - (i.e copys of every material i used.)
- so if there is no (un-subD) operation, my second question is how do i import an object into a scene which use's the same materials - without making copies of each material?

thanks :O)

1. no there is no way -u have to do it by hand (MJpolyTools can help u with loop and ring selection or use wings3d)
2. u can optimize the scene or kill not used shader in HS RMB Menu

convert the subD back to poly but switch the convert options from adaptive to vertices or something like that so you go back to your base mesh.
