CGTalk - Displacement issues

Hi all,

How do I make these artifacts go away?

I keep messing with the settings and they are not producing the result that I want. Leads me to believe there might be something else to tweak?

For better results with mr and displacement use the approximation editor.
Window>Rendering editors>Mental Ray>Approximation editor.
Select your geometry and click Create under displacement and edit to tweak the attributes. Try the presets first.
