I am a c4d-er and learning Modo. I make robots and mecha. Instead of boning them to put them in poses, I just have, lets say, an arm... Up to the shoulder joint, everything is parented together. For instance, the shoulder joint has the entire upper arm under it in the hierarchy. Below that, the elbow joint and so on. I move the arm and articulate it using the object's axis. I click on the shoulder joint in the hierarchy, and can rotate the arm up, down, round and round. I can assign an axis wherever I need to to move each group of objects, and the Axis stays there unless I assign it somewhere else.

In Modo, I don't know how to do that. The axis for an object does not stay where I put it, and I have to re-position the axis every time I want to move something. Is there a tutorial regarding building a hierarchy for a complicated model and manipulating it the way I need to?
Thanks-
Chris.
