Did an illustration for a client recently (they are a horseback riding association)
A few of the steps along the way, starting with a closeup of my rough sketch (head area only).

Most at this stage is in Painter, but I tend to work back and forth with Photoshop too...

Like to get an important detail of the piece going the right way first, then I feel comfy about moving along to other parts... sort of sets the pace for the project...

I'll try to post the final illustration later in the portfolio or showcase section

Very nice!

Watch the anatomy of the woman's had. Her chin and bottom part of her mouth are positioned too far forward, which makes her jawline look unnaturally long. Personally, I'd lower the ear a tad as well.

Can't crit on the horse anatomy really because I don't know much about horses.
It's rear legs look a bit weird to me. The belt on it's chest needs shadows.

Anyway,
looking forward to see the final painting!

Thanks for the observations... I think I put this in the wrong thread.

I always appreciate a good eye checking me out, and will keep these things in mind for future projects... unfortunately this one is done and delivered - I should have posted it here first, but missed the boat on that opportunity.

I like your portfolio - very well done.

Ah yes I saw the finished version in your portfolio now :)
Awesome Caricatures btw!

Anyway, would be awesome if you could post some sketches/doodles/studies in this thread...

Thanks for the compliment!
