mmwizard 06-12-2003, 06:42 PM Hello everybody..
This moment i'm workink on a DAF XF model and i need some ctits before i finish the model. I've build it in MAX 4.2 and it's a total 3d model without any textures (Only 1 Reflection map). If you have any crits on the model please write some sugestions about how i can improve it.... thanks in advance....

 i got nothing for crits i think it is looking good and i dont think you need to change a thing.
This is excellent. Can't wait to see it finished. Did you use blueprints and if so where did you get them? Was it done by Box modelling?
I am trying to learn 3D using Cinema 4D and would love to have a go at a truck.

Hi,
Here is a litle update of my DAF XF... I hope u like it..
And 2 PGJG:
Well i didn't exactly use blueprints, but for the sideview i used a small line drawing and for the frontview a photo. I found these on the DAF website...
During modeling i use different kind of techniques. I use for the smooth curves nurbs modeling and for the remaining objects i start mostly with a primitive like a chamferBox and convert it to a editble mesh with a subdivision of 1. And then it's a matter of patience and precision...

Little metalic... NO?
but otherwise very good
I'm speechless. Being a truck driver myself I think I know a good truck when I see one. Marks out of 10? 2000.
Keep posting the updates.

Thank you PGJG and i will keep you all informed...
And Graffb it's true that it looks a bit metalic but i did'nt spend much time and effort in the materials yet. But today i'll well spend more time on the materials....:p

Nice but the plastic parts are too smooth. Needs to be a little bumpy.
I'm talking about something like this...
Its getting better all the time. I'm getting jealous as well. Don't forget the wipers and the fifth wheel and the susies.
Will you be doing a tutorial for the DAF?

Well....
For now this model is finished. Later this month i'll be back on this one for the inside of the Truck. Then i'll include the motor and the interior of the cabine....
For me i reached my goal to build a prety realistic Truck... So if you like it or not feel free to ad you'r comments.

Looking good.
Are the headlights just a texture? They look a little bland.
Other then that its coming out great. Going to do the interior?
Maybe a trailer or two?
SUPERB  Give us a rear view and a wireframe view. Thanks

make it a race truck! I started doing a race truck myself a month ago, but havent done anything yet, im doing a racing version, a MAN race truck. Your model tho looks sweet, a bit high poly maybe. Nice job. BTW, the purple looks bd in my opinion, change it to a more pleasing colour unless thats the eact same color the real truck uses and you want it to be exact.
GJ. keep at it
It wasn't me who made the Truck. It was mmwizard
Nice model, looks pretty cool to me. Drives a lot on the road here in The Netherlands (but you already knew that ;) )
To RmachucaA: DAF only participated in races with the DAF 75, there never was a 95 race truck. But nevertheless this model could be turned into a race model. That's why it's CG! :)
To mmwizard. I had to take your DAF image to use as the wallpaper for my desktop. I hope you don't mind.

Hi i'm surpriced by the reactions... thanks to you all.
I will alter the truck later this week because i'm very busy at work. So the things like the tyers, the frontlight image etc. will be changed later this week.
Tody i'll post some other pics like the refrence i used, a wireframe and a larger image ....
(RmachucaA) I like the idea to turn it into a Race model but where can i find pictures with racetrucks??? or do you mean those from Paris Dakar.
