hi, ive got c4d running on my worstation at home, but i now have a spankey new G4 Ti powerbook 867 with a radeon 9000 64meg graphics card in it.

im going to be doing alot of travelling soon, and was hoping i could kill the time on the train by using c4d on the mac.

the question is, is it powerful enough to handle the software? i know it runs really well on my workstation but thats a dual athlon 2gig ram etc, so its not a great comparsion :/

has anyone had any experience running it on a mac?

thanks in advance

i used to run c4d on my powerbook 500 (first generation tibook). so i see no reason why you can't. it will be a lot slower, but not impossible to work on at all.

about half of cinema users use macs.

yeah, i know the older ones seemed ok until you started getting into even slightly compex scenes, then die die die.

im still wishing i could afford a dual 1.4 ghz g4 with cinema display

hmm I run cinema on a 500 mhz g3. and its fine unless my poly count gets about 500,000.

renders are slow but thats what the night is for. But max out on ram dude, Its very important.

i'm running c4d 8 on an ibook 600 and it works quite good ... the rendering is perhaps a little bit longer but i can't say that it obstructs

I use to use C4D on my 500 G3 iBook and had no problems. Then only thing you have to worry about is the serial number. Cause the one for PC doesn't work for MAC. :(

Hello Poe. I have a powerbook 667MHz that has the ati radeon 7500 mobility with 32MB of ram. I managed to complete my BA paper that was 3d illustration with only this computer. The scenes weren't extremely complicated but had many polygons and were rendered on very high resolutions. So I think that the extra 200MHz, the extra 32MB and of course the greater power of the 9000 will cope with what you will throw on your machine. It's gonna serve your modelling needs quite good and you can always throw the final scenes on your athlon for faster renderings

ooooooh. shiny new powerbook. I run C4D on an 867mhz desktop as my main machine and it runs just fine, but obviously with some compromises. ie. Forget about real time preview of character animation. One thing that has made a big difference for me is having Sniper Pro to speed up the preview process. Also, as on the pc, lots of ram is good.
(I'm just waiting, waiting, waiting for those new G5 desktop macs before i upgrade my desktop machine.)

I'm using it on a PB 17" which is a bit quicker I know but I have also used it on the 867 TiBook (last computer) and it was pretty good. My only complaint was not high enough resolution - you have to customise your layout a bit.

And one way of getting things going fast enough is setting the level of detail low or medium - works well for me.

But everyone else is right - RAM RAM RAM - I have a 1 Gb now and it does make a difference.
