View Full Version : Import 3D Model?
BUZZFX 11-01-2008, 07:20 AM I see AE CS4 can import a 3D model from Photoshop, so can I import an .OBJ model if I don't have Photoshop CS4 or do I have to have Photoshop? Is there any other way to import a 3D model into AE?
Thanks :)

No.

You could always still buy Zaxwerks Invigorator.

Thanks for the reply. That's too bad I really hope Adobe can incorporate this in the future, but I think there needs to be a way to import an .OBJ and other formats directly from AE without having to use Photoshop.

It surely will. Think of it: You can create empty PSDs and placeholders from pretty much any Adobe program these days (including AE), so it would only be logical if they added a Layer --> New --> Photoshop 3D soon-ish. ;-)

I might suspect that doesnt make any business for Adobe.

Maybe not, but IMO it would make good marketing sense to do this as it most likely would get more people interested in AE if it could import native 3D objects. I find that when adobe does 3D (like in Photoshop) they do it in a cutesy sort of way that is for hobbyist rather than pro's so I hope if they do it theres just am import feature and no cutesy weird Interface. :)
