The article is more about the financing arrangements being worked out and doesn't really have anything to do with where it'll be made. A majority of the CG work will still be done in NZ, although I'm guessing that certain aspects of Spielberg's film may be made in LA just so he's working closer to home - motion capture, editing, sound, music, finishing.

Even with Peter Jackson directing, I have no interest in seeing Tintin in 3D. Even less so with Spielberg. Some things should be left to where they belong, ink on paper or 2d animation.
I have all the comics in my memory, that's all I need/want.

I too see nothing in that article even implying it was being made in the US.
