Hi, could any body tell me how to make spawn particles inherit the material from parent particles? I'm creating parent particles with random colors using a multi/sub object material. And I want every each parent particles have the same color as the spawn particles behind them.

Example, the if the parent particle is red, then the spawn particles are also red, and not random.

Thanks in advance.

Bercon modified a pflow operator and wrote a script operator to do just that. He posted the plflow operator (max 2009 64-bit only afaik)

It begins with this post:

and continues on from here:

Hi, JohnnyRandom. Thanks for the reply. Bercon's work is very excellent! But would it work in max 2009 32 bit?

Hi, Johnny... It's very useful info you got there. But how do you bring out the material inheritance options? I tried to select the event, but didn't find the options.

check this out, stumbled upon this, don't know why I have never seen or read about it before...

...'cause you have to read the notes that I write for each beta update of Box#2 :)

Thanks,
Oleg B.

Ooops, Sorry Oleg:blush:, looks like you guys got a sneak peak at some new stuff...well something to look forward to anyway:)

Aye-captain you can still get it to work with the same flow as above by putting the material in the global event.

It doesn't work. Putting the material in the global event makes the spawn particles appear in random colors like this:

hi, i think it's workable, it just needs a slightly different setup. I've attached a working file (max9).

and here's a link to the method used, scroll down below for my post:

it's kinda old and the image links are already gone, sorry about that. I've been out of the loop for quite a long while.

i hope this helps!

edit: here's a newer link regarding the post at orbaz: http://www.orbaz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8627#8627

Works here too in my max9 install (it's all standard issue). Although I to get that result if the material op is in the final event.

same file as the image. Max9 sp2
