View Full Version : H.264 outputs 2 files?
phix314 10-31-2008, 03:33 AM What's the purpose of outputting a H.264 (.w4v) file if the audio and video are split? I can see this working for something like Encore which supports a video and audio track, but for uploading to sites accepting this codec is completely useless... is it a setting in the render settings or is this just the way it is?

Yes, split files are for BluRay/Flash authoring. I don't really understand your problem, though. By default the normal H.264 export will spit out multiplexed files, so you must use the wrong export option or have flipped a switch somewhere.

Thanks for the insight. It's just that I'd like to upload videos in HD quality to sites like Vimeo that support that format, and I've never heard of multiplexing like that. More to learn :)

Multiplexing = interweaving the audio and video streams. You really should check your settings. This is certainly something minor. You can also fuse tracks using copy&paste in Quicktime Pro, btw. Open the separate files, copy the audio to the clipboard, then paste as a new track in the video file...
