This is actually meant to be for an animated series, but I'll post it in here for now.

This is the concept on the main character. I still haven't quite settles for the colors.. specially unsure about the scarf

Bastian:
6 years old.
Homeless, orphan.

Bastian is the main character in the series. He found his mother dead at the age of 4, and his fathers death at the age of 5. Since then,
he's been homeless. He doesn't want to steal anything, not even food, but he occasionally eats whatever he finds in the trash.

Lot of visual inconsistency issues...

If he's been on the streets homeless for 2 years, he sure looks awful plump for someone who "doesn't want to steal anything, not even food, but he occasionally eats whatever he finds in the trash..."

Most 6 year olds wouldn't even have the smarts to survive on the streets for 2 years, much less even be able to get into most trash containers for food...

In addition to being so plump and healthy looking for a homeless waif, he sure is clean and well groomed...Hair nicely cut and styled, clothes spotless and new looking, nice shoes and socks...Where does this kid get such nice clothes? His cheeks even shine, they are so spotless and clean...

In addition to all these inconsistencies, the shorts with a scarf fashion just looks silly. Even after taking all the rest of the silliness into account, the scarf knotted like a tie is just a bit too over-the-top for beliveability. The fact that he is wearing shorts with a long winter coat and scarf is just one more odd effect.

The concept is a bit unbelievable from the start, but the image does not match the far-fetched concept really at all.

I just watched Tweety's High Flying Adventure and the homeless boy look just like this. The outfit was different, but the one from warren brothers was even cleaner. Nice character.

oooh its nice to see u :D , well lately i been a lil updated on the forum. well well i realy like the painting n all , but for the concept , i think a lil bit messy look would be kewl , well here is the kinder of story i got from tht boy , as if he got ppl who look after him , like a small resturant chef feeding some left overs for him.and like wise damaged garments from garment shop or maybe a tailer who sews him cloths from left overs and on free time. well good luck i loook forward to it

Cute concept - you might take a look at some of the Oliver Twist & Annie costuming for some ideas and reference. Orphans have a history in art and literature of being survivors.

I'm keeping the hat- just wanted to draw him without it... that was strange.
I'm giving him pants and upping his age
He found his mother dead in the bathroom when he was 5, his father was shot when he was 6 and now, 5-6 months later hes 7. He's short for his age.

CyberGfx- I've always tied my scarf that way.. not quite sure what the correct way would be, so It stays that way.
Although most of the events will be based on stories I've read in the papers and stories I've heard from multiple people, I'm not going for realism. He gets help from other people, and maybe also ghosts. Some people even take him home (out of benevolence mostly), where he often gets to take a bath. This boy is basically showered in luck, to balance out the bad things that are going to happen.
Parts of me wants this story to be located into the future, where the clothes are stolen from the theater where his father gets mugged. Bastian doesn't like wearing blood soaked clothes so he steals the "Little Timmy"-Costume from the theater.
He really doesn't like to steal, but he has to some times..
I appreciate the honest comment though :)

EndoTutch- hmm, not familiar whit it, Never really liked that annoying little bird. Sylvester on the other hand - Hes something :) Thanks for the compliment.

INIX - Youre correct about the chef :) theres also a teenager and a baker hwo helps him out whit the food. The don't always have food for him though, so he does have to scramb trough the trash every now and then.

Frogman - Havent heard about Annie, but I'll defenitly check out Oliver Twist. I've always wanted to see one of those Oliver Twist movies, but it ain't easy to find in the stores.
