Why do the enemies of the earth always land on american ground and why do they always want to fight?

Can't stand Keanus bad acting and imo this looks like an updated Independence day...

But true, the effects look nice.

Not a big fan of Keanu, but this looks to be good! The VFX on the disintegrating big rig looks awesome! Oh, and Jennifer Connelly!

interesting take on the original movie, and the FX look amazing of course. Hope the story retelling turns out to be good. . . . :) I'm glad they kept Gort pretty much the same, he looks great!

the video is unfortunatley not available anymore.

good point! not very up-to-date thinking in terms of screenplay. it could be much more global...so it just looks like an internal problem - so who cares in the end what happens to just one continent...cause it could be worse.

When Silver Surfers attack!

The Connelly-Reeves romance should be interesting :)

The extended trailer seems to have disappeared....must be aliens

I wonder if the new film is just a remake of the 1950's classic or harks back to the original story 'Farewell to the master' on which that film was based. It will be interesting to find out.

This phrase may come in handy...."Klattu barada nikto"

Oooh! A giant slice of Keanu cheese and Jennifer "I-can't-act-and-I-play-the-same-character-in-every-movie" Connelly. I.....won't be there.

lol Keanu Reeves is back as an alien that looks like Mr.smith protecting the world from global warming by exterminating the human kind.

The effects dont look that much better than 2005's War of the Worlds.

But it does look like a nice slice of cheese.

Attack of the Giant Marbles! Awful dialogue, lame story and completely different to the ground breaking original. It looks SHIT.

But I like marbles so if theres nothing else on at the pictures I shall go see it.

I haven't read the book so I hope those mighty aliens don't die from the flu.
Other than that, I'm amazed that Keanu probably pocketed another few millions for just playing just as badly as always. Incredible....

the trailer was good, but I think we saw the best parts. As usual the rest will probably suck...they'll still get my cash though.

I am unsure about the Gort design.

I liked the rigidity of the rubber original. He was so cool he didnt have to move his arms(but then why have them?).
I guess I am surprised by the simplicity of this one. It couldnt get any more basic!

I figured it would be more like this:

Or much more fancy on the surface.

Gort Looks great. Glad they didn't change him much. Keanu is who he is BUT so far i've enjoyed all the movies he's been in. From Bill & Ted to The Matrix so he does pick some good movies to be in. I look forward to seeing what they do with the movie.

Great FX, awesome work guys.

Regarding why aliens invade the US.

1) I guess the aliens do their research and decided to go for a country which has massive media centres so they can get their word out.

2) I guess the aliens do their research and decided to go for a country which had more weapons than ............ say Iceland. (Knock the big kids down first)

3) I guess the aliens do their research and decided to go for a country where everyone in the world knew their accents - and not say Wales, NZ or maybe - it would be stupid if they invaded Wales. People would laugh - if you know what I mean.

When a studio releases a very long trailer for a film doesn't it usually mean they have no confidence in it?

you mean like pixar and the rat film they made with a 9 min clip or bolt, another pixar film with two 5 min clips?

Hmmm..
it's just that the internet can now afford some decent marketing other than a med sized jpg.

we now live in a youtube age...people expect more than 30second clips to entice them into a large poorly lit room that smells of popcorn!

I'm not expecting much with this one. It looks like it has a strong first act, but a weak third act. War of the Worlds, The Invasion and pretty much any recent sci fi remake have had this problem.

When a studio releases a very long trailer for a film doesn't it usually mean they have no confidence in it?half the films this summer had 5 -10 minute previews online, even batman, hulk and iron man

I think it looks pretty cool, and maybe it'll be a decent flick. But, I think it totally misses the moral point of the original. The visitors in the first one took great pains not to hurt anyone and deliver a message of peace and progress. I think they should have changed it up a bit and called it something else, but I guess they wanted to capitalize on the classic status of the first.

Re: Patrick.

I doubt anyone on the crew actually watched the original. Which is a bit lazy considering its on Amazon and YouTube...

Saying that, there have been films with awful trailers, but the final film turns out to be surprisingly good.
