all this talk about 3delight, aqsis, and pixie has got me interested in using them. is there anyway i can learn how to use them without haveing to pay for mayaman. Since im just learning i dont really wanna have to pay. Buy anyhow. how do i get started. ive read alot of threads but non really say what to do when i installl 3delight. Have yet to install pixie and aqsis.
What is the difference between the 3 and is 1 better then the others?
I read you can use blender or wings3d to render out in these renderers. can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks.

If you want a free exporter to Renderman from maya, then take a look at "Liquid". I havent worked with it by myself so I cant say anymore on this.

For Blender there is a Blender branch called "Tuhoopu" where all experimetns are done before they go into the official blender code. Search on elysium ( http://www.elysiun.com ) for this.
Tuhoopu exports to 3Delight and to Pixie at this time. You can also write yourself a Python script to export to rib. ( Jan Walter already did one)

For wings use the "ribbit" Plugin, it supports most of the renderers.

The main differences between the three renderers are:

3Delight: Free up to now, but is exspected to become a commercial renderer. (What doesn´t mean that this is bad, everything has its dis- and andvantages) can do Raytracing but is a reyes renderer at its base.

Aqsis: Is the most used Open Source renderman renderer. Is a pure reyes renderer which can do raytracing only, when you can get BMRT working as a rayserver (don´t ask me how to do this seems all very experimental) Aqsis has a great and helpful community on their website.

Pixie: Is a very new renderman renderer with very interesting features like global illumination, OpenGL Hider etc. It is not as far developed as Aqsis (so some features are not implemented [yet]) but looks very promising.

All three are different and the one who´s better is the one which fits best your needs. ;-)

All written above is my personal opinion and I believe if you ask the next one about this you can get a completely different answer. Its somehow like all those discussions about which OS is best ....
