> Can you spline patch model in Blender?
(is it well supported).

[Your answer doesn't have to be short... ]

... I'll take that as a "No".

what do you mean by "spline patch model"?

1 Draw some splines (curves) to difine the shape.

2 Select 4 splines to create a surface. (The surface can be polys or Nurbs).

Maybe this is what you're looking for:

(it's a bit old but it should work the same way)

As far as I know, it is pretty-much categorically true in Blender that you can select several objects, join them into one object, and/or select everything in the object and "make faces." As long as all of the things that you are joining in this way are of one, plausible kind that can sensibly be made into "a solid object," (e.g. all of them are curves, or all of them are polygons), "it just works."

A 3D max user ey? That used to be my favourite way to model as well in max, for organic stuff anyway. But then I got comfortable with blender's way of modeling. Isn't spline modeling mainly a max thing?

Afaik you cannot lay out a spline wireframe in blender like you can in max, and then put a "skin?" modifier on it. Nurbs are supposedly not very good in blender either, but there is a lot of commotion and there are people dedicated to bringing good/excellent nurbs functionality into blender. This is future talk though....
No patches in blender either afaik.
Modelingwise, you can do lofting and some other operations. Splines/curves serve more purposes than just modeling though... get creative.

what is it you are trying to model with it?

And where the heck is Apen? (I live near antwerpen)

Have you considered subsurf modeling as an alternative? it's incredibily powerfull in blender, and easier/faster to setup than a spline cage anyway.

Hi,

No, I'm not a 3dsmax user ;-)

I tried some other applications: Maya, XSI, LightWave...

& different modeling methods: Box-modeling (poly & SubD), poly-to-poly, Nurbs, Spline...> I favour the last;

I like to layout the overall topology (& shape) with splines and do the detailing with standard poly-& SubD-modeling.

Well, I have some examples from an LW-tutorial I did some months ago.

Enough to give an impression (I hope):

then what was the question to begin with? Since the precious one was already answered.
There is no spline+surface modeling combo in blender afaik, but there are people who trace a front and side view with splines and then build a poly box around it.
No need for the attitude, just be a bit specific.
