I'm helping this guy out with Vegas movie studio 9. He has a Panasonic digital video cam, we imported some footage with help from Windows Vista. It went just beautifully, the audio is there for sure (PCM), when played in a movie player, video is "dvsd" format. When thrown into Vegas, however, there is no audio track.

Why would Vegas have a problem with simple WAV audio? I even installed the Panasonic dvsd codec, but I guess that's only for the video anyway - .AVI is simply a container.

Any tips?

Thanks.

Ok, the problem was the video was DV Type I, which I guess means the audio track is thought to be separate by default. I used this to convert it to Type II: http://paul.glagla.free.fr/dvdate_en.htm

First I tried ulead dv converter, but it gave me corrupt audio at the end of the vid.

Thanks for the help, self!
