ratheesh300 10-25-2008, 11:46 AM To tell in one word about cg society "AMAZING". It's been a wonderfull journey for me all these days. Very inspirational and mind blowing. I realize i've wasted a lot of time, and it's time now for me to showcase some of my works. And mould myself in to a better artist with guidance and support from great artists here in cg society. Works of Zhuzhu and Bumskee have been very inspirational and like oxygen to me.
Am really thankfull to Anand pg and Sanpaiya it's because of their dedication which inspired me to start my thread. I hope you enjoy my works and get the good out of me.
If i am going wrong somewhere i am certain Rebecca will guide me. Wish you all good time.
About me: I've done my BFA in Sri sankaracharya sanskrit university in kerala. Now working as a senior 2d animator in bangalore india.
OK, I'll start from some imagenary thumbnails. kinda tarzan type.Because am a great fan of masculine characters.

Hi...Ratheesh
GREAT START to your thread.:applause:
I don't know what kind of instructional books you have in your personal library, but I highly recommend getting all of the books by Burne Hogarth that you can get,...if you don't already have them that is.
Dynamic Figure Drawing by him, is one of the best books out there, for the kind of subject that you seem interested in doing..like TARZAN..He illustrated that character for years, and in fact it was his passion..He used to talk about the character of TARZAN alot in his class, and how HOLLYWOOD movies had made a joke out of a trully inspirational story in his time as an illustrator of TARZAN...It's to bad that he didn't live long enough to see GRAYSTOKE LORD OF THE APES..I think he would have really liked that one...was pretty close to the way he used to describe the story to us as he was teaching in class.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing lots more of your work, and the progress that comes with it.
TAKE CARE

Wow, nice painter doodle!
Your enviro also looks pretty nice!
I'm missing something that clearly shows the scale of this area... a creature or vehicle for example.
Also, I think it can use some aeral perspective there... would make an excellent piece imho

Whoa!
Great works all around !! you have some good command over colors. . really like all ur artworks. Specially, lion stuff ;)
Did you work a little in 3d packages as well ?
If not, then I will recommend that, believe me it helps a lot to understand depth and volumes. I am not a good 2d artist, but experienced it myself. So try that out, if you didn't yet.
Also one more thing I noticed, may be its just my thinking - you can improve the lighting part in your artworks more, it will boost their beauty thats for sure.
Keep them coming . . . :wip:

Any tips on how to do transparent glass using Z BRUSH, which is the only 3D program that I have..I've been searching, but am unable to find a way to do decent transparent glass using Z BRUSH.
ANYWAY..Ratheesh...KEEP INSPIRED AND INSPIRING..:arteest:

Well, you've shown with your previous work that you're freakin' good and this one just proves it again. Amazing! Love the colors. Not a nice fact though that you've started it in 2002, hehe. So, will we see it finished in 2012?
Ahh, I know how these things sometimes are. As Richard Schmid in his book said, you cantry putting the piece away for some time and hope that the painting fairy will make it look better.
Finish it, man! And then go do some plein air painting :)

Hey Ratheesh! Wassup, man? Long time no see, huh?:scream:
I hadn't seen the landscape in oil.. brilliant work!:buttrock:
Your 3d looks good for a start .. Hard to see at this extreme angle, but you don't seem to have much of a problem with the proportions. It is evident though, that some anatomy study with pencil and also in clay would be of great help. Since I know it is hard to find life-drawing classes Bangalore, I would suggest that you start with drawing bones and muscles from a good anatomy book and watch some body-builder videos ("Pumping Iron" is a good one) to figure out how the muscles function. That will greatly aid your modeling. Wish you all the best, dude! Let's see more of this here!:buttrock:

Hey when it's good, it has to be said ;)
Looking at your landscapes again, one thing that occurs to me is that the atmospheric perspective could be pushed a bit more. It will increase a feeling of depth and space.
That's just my personal opinion though. Feel free to disagree :D
