CGTalk - DDR Ram Question

I've got a "normal" 256 MB DDRAM chip from before (without ECC/REG) , and now I'm buying a cheap ECC/REG 512MB DDR CL2.5. Will I be able to use both chips at once, or can I only use registered chips together? Hope somebody will be able to answer me
