Hey all,

Using RenderMan for Maya 2 and Maya 2008, I'm a bit new to the RfM workflow. Is it possible to create a pass and render only outputs from that... and not the outputs in other passes (Final Defaults, for example)?

I'd use this for rendering out occlusion passes, for example, where I don't need to waste time rendering any diffuse, specular, etc.

Thanks,

** Updated **

Figured it out (and now I understand how RfM works a bit more). It's possible to create an empty set and assign that as Final Default's light pass set in addition to temporarily disabling other passes. Some outputs, such as specularIndirect (reflection), require that certain color and light information is rendered out regardless. During this time, command line rendering really comes in handy :) Hope this helps someone in the future.

The render globals you can find the output passes for renderman for Maya.

Yes its possible to create just a pass.

Sorry, to be more specific, is it possible to render simply an occlusion pass and not waste time on rendering the RGBA composite?

Its all there in the render globals, just delete the RGB pass and add in your occulsion pass.

Oh ya the default pass you have to delete. And all other passes will be found in the directories. And you should do the batch render.
