'Transformers' Rolling Out in Live-Action Film
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "The Transformers" -- the ever-morphing Hasbro toy line that spawned comic books, TV series and an animated feature -- are ready to change shape again, this time into live-action stars of the big screen.
Angry Films chief Don Murphy (whose next film is "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen") and writer-producer Tom DeSanto ("X-Men" and "X2: X-Men United") have teamed to produce a feature-length, live-action movie based on the popular brand.

There's something that'll take awhile to complete.
I'd like it even more if the CG set a new benchmark. And if it looks real real real, Then i know for a fact my inner child would get too excited, and my head will feel like it's shrinking.

As long as they stick to the generation1 transformers it might be good, basing it off any other tf offshoot is gonna be crap!
Now where's my Robotech live action movie???

Hmm...I watched an episode of Armada last saturday. It was the one where they had that hologram-girl who kept warning them not to take a funny piece of metal...
It had these three small auto-bots that combined to make a slightly bigger one. They remind me of the Stunticons( I think thats what they where called! ) I used to have as a little kid...

And adding to my thoughts, WE are the ones that grew up with the original Transformers so hopefully it will be mature or late teen oriented movie and not dumbed down for a new generation of 10 year olds.

I actually sort of like the series Beast Machines.... but yeah, if this is going to fly it's going to have to be based off the originals...
The only thing I wonder is how they'll handle the obvious scale problems the cartoon always ignored. The decepticons were a bunch of fighter jets and the autobots were cars... yet they were all more or less the same size when in robot form. And Optimus prime should have been far bigger than his fellow autobots.... anyway, you can't exactly fake the scale in live action like you can in a cartoon.

While this sounds great and I'd love to see another g1 movie, I just think some things might be better off not being live action. Has there ever been a good live action robot movie? I guess the live action Gundam movie was on pare with a so-so sci-fi TV show and the old SF3D Nutrocker short (not sure if that title is right) was pretty good. Maybe a mechwarrior movie could be done well, but Transformers just dosen't seem to lend itself to live action to me.

As with all comic to cg movies, it's gonna either rock, or horribly suck. We're all used to the comics/old g1 tv show being awesome because those transformers could do something in 2d, and that was transform. The beast wars incarnation was terrible, and even the new pokemon-ified transformers armada just sucks so terrible, so i have not much faith in a decent live action cg movie. If they can keep it all oldskool they have a chance, but it's just gonna depend on who's leading the helm of this one...

Bah, Beast Wars was one of the best written CG animated show if people had given it a chance. :(
It's filled with lots of subtle humor and grim storyline, and plenty of references to the old G1 Transformers.
Hell, they even had the original G1 Transformers cast in CG in some of the later episodes.

Well, I'm glad it will for sure be based on the original Transformers but who the hell is Angry Films? Do they even have a track record? Pleeeeease don't screw this up, I've always wanted a live action Transformers! If it even looks remotely like the Power Rangers I swear...

I'm not really sure if this new film will be better of as beast was or Genaration 1 as I've seen niether series. I know that most people will want a genaration 1 film but I hope that it will make sense to people my age who haven't seen the original.
Oh and by the way armada wasn't that bad and those thre small autobots were autually mincons a third race of transformers and they combined to make perceptor.
I'm only 13 so don't get upset.

Beast wars wasn't THAT bad, imo. Why do you all hate it so much?
Steven Spielberg is producing with Dreamworks and Tom DeSanto...
...why would you guys think this movie would suck?

Yeah, we all agree on Gen 1. But here is the real debate:
Bumblebee--old or new beetle?
Mwahahahaha.
Oh, and will there be a mini cooper? And if so, can you call the character anything *other* than Cooper?

That's a kewl animation there.
It depends who they are gona market it for. Most of us grew up with the 1st gen and are fanboys of them. And theres the kids of today who have grown up with beastwars and armada. Two totally different generations. I wonder which direction they will go.
I hope they dont go in the direction of Thunderbirds.

I assume that this animation was more or less a hobbyist's effort and that it isn't official. I liked the shot on video photorealism but found the animation less than fluid. Does give a nice sense of how much fun it could be though.

Hmm I hope they don't too.
However I am one who is currently growing up with armada, beast wars and energon and from what I have see on G1 they're compleately different. I wonder how its going to work out

From what I hear, Sideswipe, Brawn, WheelJack, Jazz, Sunstreaker, and Prime are some of the main story pushers in the movie. Reading what I have I'm pretty sure they're going to stick with a general g1 feel, but even being a traditional fanboy who grew up with them in the 80's, I won't mind if they have a bit more detail and action-oriented design like the newer ones. But then again, look at the ones that are modeled after actual vehicles in the modern toy lines... Sunstreaker, sideswipe, hound... they're based on post-2002 model vehicles, but amazingly enough when transformed look more like the original Cartoon versions than some of the original g1 toys did.
And don't worry acree, Armada isn't that bad... just too much like a cross between power rangers and pokemon for my taste.
