(Thanks vary much to Orcagirl for giving up the webspace on my behalf)
This is only 20 seconds of the current work in progress.. in all honesty, i'd like not to have to do any more, and just start working in the field, but if when I get back from Montreal this weekend and return jobless, then of course my plan is to keep adding to this tape.
Hope you enjoy.

nope... maya 4.5! :P
The moves look way to out of control to me, you need a bit more composure.

Ok.. fair enough. I was thinking the same thing... like i said, i was going to go to Montreal to take a breather from it for a little while anyway (to get some perspective and look for work), but there were things that were bothering me which is why I was posting in the first place... for detailed critiques..)
Could you be a bit more specific about where you felt it was out of control?
(Incidentally, I`ve updated this animation a few times, since i`ve posted at this site... as I said, it is a work in progress, but if you could just tell me where you thought the movement was too out of control, it`d help...)

I'm not sure if its the camera angles or the robots movement, but it doesn't look too much of martial arts to me. I mean the moves are quite weird. Did you use some real martial arts moves as reference? If not then you can search net for some real martial arts video clips and watch them closely to get the moves right. It would also help knowing how to do the techniques. To study the movement karateplanet.com is quite good place.

Hrm.
That's interesting.
I agree with the camera work.
Since posting a month ago, those have changed.
As for reference...
Yes I did use reference.
Not everything is Karate.
I've done 5 years of real Kung fu and Capoeira respectively.
Different clips of Neo were used for reference so it might explain some stiffness... keanu reeves can't fight for shiznitz...
Thanks for the crits tho...

might be the camera then since you probably know your moves :)
(karateplanet was just a example, has nice pictures of techniques though)

I would post this in the CG - WIP thread!
My oppion is that the camera moves too much, and takes away from the characters movement. (if i jump in front fo a camera and it cuts to where i land, and there is no enviromental referance, it dosnt look like a jumped a distance)

I agree, other than those two kicks in the middle I couldn't really tell what was going on. I think there was some punches at the end but they were to fast for me to tell if that was what he was doing. I agree with the person that said the camera movies too much. Also at the begining I think there is a sort of jump kick, but at the angle you used, it looks sort of odd. I like the robot though, and sounds like you know your stuff. I also agree you should post this in the WIP thread and keep us updated on your progress!
