View Full Version : SimbiontMAX 2.5/Max5.1 problem
LFShade 06-11-2003, 06:17 AM I'm having a problem with Darkling Simulations' SimbiontMAX plugin in Max5.1, and I'm just trolling to see if anyone else out there is getting the same thing. Assigning a .dsts file to the SimbiontMAX material causes Max to hang, as does assigning a .dst* file to the Simbiont map. I sent an email to Darkling Simulations support, but until I hear from them I'm hoping to find out whether this is a widespread problem.
This is referring to the latest version of the plugin (2.5) available from the Darkling Simulations website (http://www.darksim.com).
Thanks,
RH

I haven't tried it, and now I don't want to.
If you want to rollback, I've got 2.1 around here somewhere.

I can roll back easy enough, I have my own installer for the older version (thanks for the offer, though!). But that's not to say I don't want the newer one to work;)

I had the same problem - I did a reinstall but told it where 5 was manually, and it seems to work fine now.

LFShade, you have to copy the Simbiont.cfg to the plugcfg folder. Very Cool free plugin by the way :)

I checked the .cfg file in the plugcfg directory, and it had the wrong path to the components dir. I fixed it, and it works like a charm now. Thanks, guys!

Great. Now I'm gonna have to download and try it. Thanks a lot.
Gonna be a few days, though. Anybody care to give a peak into the improvements?

There's a few more DT materials, but mainly bug fixes so it works with texture baking in Max 5.
DT 2.5 now also offers normal map output.

Hi,
I did edit the cfg file at first. but it made no difference, I then reinstalled and chose the other option for the location of the Max plugin.
It might just be a weird thing where you need to reinstall.
Worth a shot
