Title: Aliens Hate Anchovies
Name: Angel Nieves
Country: USA
Software: Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush
In the middle of making a scifi environment I felt the need to make an alien for some reason. I first started experimenting with a realistic looking alien but the idea evolved to a more cartooney image. Who would have thought that aliens hate anchovies... but love beer! the second part I will make sometime down the road.
Base mesh for the alien done in Maya, sculpted and textures painted in ZBrush, the pizza was made in ZBrush as well. The rest of the environment was all done in Maya and the textures painted in photoshop. Hope you like it.

The texture and model of the alien looks very nice. However the snarl of the alien's lips where the teeth are revealed look as if they could reveal more teeth than is shown. Also the front of the mouth I believe should be open a bit more as well. I have had problems with high res meshes myself when trying to create morph targets for facial expressions and it is always where the teeth meet the lips where it appears the lips are glued together.
The composition works well for this image and the color is very vibrant, which adds to the playfulness of the image. The focus blur you have added to the image in the foreground works well, but when you look at the window blinds it doesn't look part of the same scene because the window blinds are a bit too sharp compared to the left side of the alien's arm and head.
Overall I would say these points are minor as the image is still strong as it is, but would make it stronger. Now I need to get off my soap box and create some goodness myself.

Beautiful work Mr. Nieves. I wasn't knew that you are also using Maya. You were always the Lightwave guy to me :D
Beautiful work as always and nothing to crit on my side. It's obvious everything there is the fiction of the artist himself.

Thanks you guys for taking the time to post.
Leon, even tho I think some of your crits are subjective I agree that I could have pushed the snarl further. I'll keep that in mind for the next time.
Kerem, thx, my current job is Maya based so I had to put LW aside more and more... I need to use it tho, I don't wanna forget how to use the app
Thanks again fellas, appreciated.
