View Full Version : vScale - from DT Rigging Cartoon Vehicles in MAYA

Hello

I have just gotten the RIGGING CARTOON VEHICLES IN MAYA from DT =)

I encountered this issue with the SQUASH and STRETCH TUTORIAL they have...




Once creating the Squash and Stretch generator
I wrote the proc. vScale as directed in the CD
I ran it in the MEL COMMAND and put it in the CUSTOM SHELF, then I selected the SPLINE CURVE then ran the S&S generator that created the Div NODE. (divide node)
I Renamed the Div Node and inserted it in the EXPRESSION that is on my SPLINE CURVE


Then as instructed, I got rid of the COMMENT bars from the Expression line

and added the JOINTS.scale(AXIS) but when i ran the expression
i get this error

// Error: Attribute not found or variable missing '$': globalScale01.sy //
// Error: Expression invalid after edit. //

I've tried...
- without joints in the expression
- changed 'div' name to something else and input it to expr.
- not change the div name (which i dont think has anything to do with this problem)
but this happens when i get rid of the comment (i know this cause isolated the problem. i just dont know how to fix it :( pls help

Well, it would be helpful to see the expression as many of us have not checked out the DT rigging DVDs

Couple of possible solutions:

1) The "globalScale01" might be a variable, and if it is you will need to write it as either "$globalScale01.sy" or "($globalScale01).sy".

2) You named the thing you're trying to hook up differently than the expression has it listed.

With some more info, I could give you a better answer.

hmmm

sometimes the best of us can be idiots as well lol

I'm not saying I'm the best, but i am saying I am a fool for not checking my spelling mistakes on my expression lol

everything is good

globalScale01 = GRP
scale wasn't working because in my actual procedure, I wrote GOBAL...yeah lol
DUMB mistakes
3 hours of my life....gone
but dont worry, i'll live. =)

It could have been worse.

You could have never found the spelling mistake and started the entire script over! :)
