I wouldn't post something like this but I made it, so what the hey. I got this set as my desktop background and it's pretty cool. all ya gotta do is set it to your background and set it to tile and voalla (fonetik spelling) Instamatrix!

kinda trippy w/ all them mathematical characters. Not exactly the upside down Kanji used in the matrix code, but very convincing effect... I would increase the density of it slightly though. But yah, that's neat. I'm not much a fan for active desktop so I am unable to do animations in my wallpaper.

How do you do that code?
I've seen a lot of animations where the letters just travell to through the screen. How do you do those collums of "moving" fixed letters efficiantly?

anyways goto your display properties. goto Desktop tab...and Browse to choose your wallpaper...select this Gif file...change the option to TILE (center,stretch).......and THERE U GO.

it works for me!.....but my PC gets slow!!

Nice, but apart from the choice of characters there are a couple of other things that might make it look a bit more like the movie:

- The highlighted characters could be brighter.

- A bit of vertical motion blur might help.

- I think the movie had some numbers, not just text.

- I think in the movie all characters moved down one line each frame, while in yours the characters just appear and fade without moving. Not sure, though.

Creature asked how I did it so here it goes.

It's a video made in Adobe After Effects. the first layer is the code and is just a bunch of letters and doesn't move (the real matrix code has some characters that change but most of them stay the same). the second layer is set to multiply and scrolls down one character set per frame. the third layer is set to overlay and scrolls down 2 character sets per frame. all layers are tileable. and thats it, pretty simple.
