View Full Version : 2d Art: Dance Away...
digital NUT 06-10-2003, 11:08 PM Hey fellow artists. I spent a while on this picture, using both Photoshop and 3ds MAX to accomplish this. I just wanted some opinions. P.S.: This is for my friend (I wish she were mine^^) who is a very talented dancer.

Something amazing should be happening. There is not enough drama in the way the camera is placed, and therefore nothing amazing is happening.
The subject, in this case, probably the bellerina in the middle, should not be smack in the middle of the piece. Try dividing the composition in 9 pieces by drawing 2 lines vertical across the piece and 2 lines horizontal. Each place that a line intersects, you should have something significant for the eye to follow.
Amazing things will happen.

Oh really. Thanks for the crits anyway:hmm: . I guess my work doesn't really suit too many good opinions...but I'll try the line thing.

Here's a redo according to some crits> I think that it still needs some more touch ups. Help please? Should I just make solid lines and not ones that cut through?

I guess you've misunderstood the line stuff... -_-||

digital NUT, I have to give my feedback in saying that your first version is good as it is.
Keep in mind everyone, that NUT posted this in a 2D composition board and it just so happens that his/her composition includes some 3d quality.
As far as composition goes, there could be more balance, but overall I think the piece looks good. Yes most cases, nothing that takes the major focus of the picture should be directly center (but tell that to DaVinci when he painted the Mona Lisa)
If I'm right to guess, your intention was to honour your friend with this piece and show the elegance of dance and motion, and personally, I think you pulled it off wnderfully.
Keep up the good work!
