Hey guys, first post here after some time lurking around. I'm a 15 year old n00b just trying to get better. So i decided to post one of my first images for some C&C. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

It's a bit sick and bloody to my likeing, can you not get better by doing something a bit prettier, in saying that, theres good stuff going on here, u got nice texturing, place some more lighs in there which are very low intensity this will give a better quality images, with less of those horrible black areas...and make your own textures using photoshop if u know how to use it, these textures have been used a million times. keep working hard mate...

if i am not mistaken, someone has already replied to you with some good constructive critisism.

but i'll continue it.

The wood texture is very over-used. Maybe you should change it and make it more worn and dirty looking.

What is the cone thing coming out of the back of the eye? It looks like a drill bit.

You should add some more lighting in the scene, something subtle.

The eye itself doesnt look correct, it looks flat.

otherwise, great!

G.Rodi - Thanks man.. comments appreciated greatly!

polygun - Thanks for the comments. As for the cone shaped peice.. it supposed to be the retina after the eye eas pulled out of the socket

There is not all that much to comment on. I would try maybe some 3 point lighting, and take another look at it. From the brief look I took at it, I would say that the lighting needed the most work. I would try 3 point first, and then start playing with it. :wip:

if i were you, i would:

duplicate the cone at least several times (at least 10 or so) and scale the copies in varying sizes to simulate the mess of tubes & veins coming from the back of the eyeball (if you rip an eye out, you're not going to get just one cone at the back)
push and pull the vertices on each of the smaller cones one at a time, so that you get some organic variation going. also do this with the eyeball to soften it up, as right now you've got these untouched geometry edges.
experiment with bumb mapping for the cones/tubes. this is an invaluble channel for simulating gore etc.
that's my advice anyway
you've got excellent lighting though. i like bloody things!
