The initial concept

Redesigned the head, and did blending. I realize my lighting needs serious attention. The green things are meant to be flowery decorations.

I think the original concept was much better, and you should go back to that.

The colored version is garish, harsh, and the light spot should be against the law. Instead of hiding all the beautiful strokework, I would first go back and enhance the line work, and then merely shade and highlight those areas to better emphasize the depth of this "Golden Dragon."

It is a much more powerful linework drawing than anything you can "coloring book" illustrate. Enhance the first version with values, instead to give it depth. This will also help with your lighting, as you will have to figure out where to simply put highlight values, than what color to use.

Your C&C was informative, I'll concentrate on the initial concept.

I'll stay continue on the latter, but convert to grayscale to tone it down to address the harshness. Also make the back of the head less prominent and get rid of the flowery decoration.

I aspire to the Lord of the Rings imaginery and doing artwork in that vein.

Concentrated mainly on the shoulder area and the arm.
