CGTalk - Snake Scale Texture

Howdy Folks,

Any ideas on how i could create a good snake scale texture?

Made one not too long ago. Modeled a scale and a belly plate, scattered them. Worked great, especially since I needed to make it into a displacement map. Only hard part was the head. Painted that instead.

LOL! What can I say? I like to help, I'm an altruistic kinda guy. Seen a lot of CG production time, want to help others.
