View Full Version : problems using object2fac from MODO
I'm having a problem trying to get a modo model with UV's into EIAS.
O2F just won't open the obj's exported from modo. No error messages or anything, it just does nothing. It's a while since i've used it so any suggestions of where I am going wrong would be helpful...

Ok, solution found, in an older post that I missed when I had a look earlier:
From a post by Eterea:
Anyway, the better path I have found is:
— Export as OBJ
— Open this OBJ file with a text editor (TextEdit)
— Remove the first line, something similar to this:
# Wavefront OBJ file: /Volumes/Maxtor_300/VEKA/Modo/Viaduct_05.obj_tmp
(this has been explained on Ramjac Support Forums)
— Save
— Run throught Object2Fact.

Could you please send the OBJ to me that I can take a look? Modo OBJs have always been problematic for conversion due to really poor formatting.

Recently I had to use Modo for an EI project and had many problems with object 2 fact which, as I see now was due mostly to my ignorance of the finer points of making things go. While that may be too much to ask of my intellect, FBX export>import worked flawlessly, preserving materials and layers, though it did need the -z treatment.
