Hi,

Question:Suppose i have 30 objects in the scene ...and I want to make all of their materials render wireframe.
How do i do it so i dont have to change it seperately for each one without having to use the same material????
I mean is there like an attribute spread sheet or some way i can access properties of multiple objects so I can change them???....
I know its possible to say attach the same material for all by using the "link by materials "option but how do I change say the "Render pipeline" properties etc for multiple objects.

Thanks in advance

It doesn't exist. And yes it's a real big shame :(

Maybe after 2.5

Hi...
Hmmmmm...if that is the case...dont you find it strange that ...this as a request or feature suggestion is not heard of very often????....
cant be that all Blender users work with files with only less hat 10 objects right :)
hmmm....
Does anyone know of a script that will help me do this???
cos i have may teeny weeny objects i my scene and will be a real pain to have to select each one and change the properties.

Much thanks

It would be handy to change common components of multiple objects / materials / whatever at once.

I don't think this issue has really come up though because most of the time if people want to render multiple objects in wireframe, they generally are assigned the same wireframe texture. It's not often that you have lots of objects, all rendered in wireframe, but with different texture settings... after all, there's not much to see texture wise with wireframe.

It's should be pretty easy to whip up a quick python script to do this though.

Hi...
well im trying to render the wireframes retaining the original object color...hence the issue of assigning the same shader...:(.
But then again..."wire render" might not be the only property that people want to change for multiple objects....so iguess it will be well worth it to make a script to do this..and maybe it will get integrated into blender sooner or later(wouldn that be awesome) :).
well the only scripting i can do is for the storyline of a film :P...sooo...im going to try and talk to another Blendee that i know who jas some python experience...lets see what comes up.

yes it's a shame that this is not possible. but maybe these scripts could make things easier.
this one is nice, but probably not what you are looking for.
http://www.blendernation.com/2006/11/11/video-tutorialscript-rendering-wireframe-overlays/
this one will let you assign and exchange multiple materials
http://www.blendernation.com/2007/04/04/material-works-script-search-replace-materials-and-more/
and just in case you didn't know "copy attributes", here is described hoy to assign certain attributes to multiple objects. but well, not that wire-thing you are looking for...
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/Editing_Objects
hm... should not be too hard to script that (but i have no idea). perhaps ask here http://blenderartists.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=11 ?

Hi,
Yup..
I do use the copy to(cntrl+c) thing and also use link materials (cntrl+L) for assigning the same materials to multiple objects...
but there are still many attributes in "links and pipeline" and "shaders" that one might wanna change....so its well worth looking into it...il try and post there to see if anyone responds...

Much thanks :)

I think it's quite a well known limitation. I too miss the ability to select multiple objects and change stuff all at once

seconded.

I think that's the only feature from...just about any commercial graphics software you care to name that I miss which Blender could really do with. ah well....
