Title: Mies van der Rohe Barcelona Pavilion
Name: Alessandro Mauro
Country: Italy
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop

This is my latest personal work. the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion

the purpose of the project is "to feel and to recreate" that
space balancing the orthogonal and abstract, between full and empty, where games of reflexes, shines and illusion find their way among marble walls, metallic surfaces, pillars cruciform chrome steel, glass and travertine floors; elements don't confuse but coexist in an asymmetrical space, which never closes in on itself, rising the border between nature and humankind.

really hope you like it!

Nice photos ;)

Is it all 3D? Or are the plants matt painted?

Really like the colour palette, the first image with it's subdued blues and browns, also the night shots' warmth.

Thank you very much, I really appriciate your words.

Yes asarya, it is all 3d istances plants! The poly count is very hight and render take from two to four hours.

All images take illumination from sun&sky system, density to 1 for exteriors in order to take the darkness for short distances, 0.05 for interior to obtain a good compromise for render times. So final gather for big area and AOcolorbleed with very large distances for little and middle details.
lwf in maya and gamma control in post.

Thank you and sorry for my english :p

Hey marla!
I've seen some of your work, and i have to say.. their the most amazing archviz i've ever seen. Keep it up!
I have some questions, i hope you don't mind.
How do you make your grass? Especially the grass you made on the fransworth house?
How do you map your walls? the textures look amazing! And i would love to know how you model everything, how do you get them into the right dimensions? What do you use for setting up the daylight?

Thank you!
Fahim
