It will be interesting to see what the final piece looks like, as CGI Studio handles these types of surfaces very well.

"Ewan McGregor voices Rodney the robot."
that guy really is a talentless bast*@% :annoyed: lets hope he doesn't pretend he's got an english accent again
I like robots though:thumbsup:

I got to see alot of the work on Robotz and man does it looks NICE!!
The designs and color keys are awesome...done by 2D guy nicknamed "DICE"
http://www.simplestroke.com/index2.html
Lighting and rendering should be top notch....specially like Floyd said considering how well CGI Studio handles hard surfaces....
Cant wait to see it...

That's a great little 3d production presentation page from Blue Sky. It gives me some great ideas for my own little 3d shop production presentation info. Although I tend to avoid mentioning the fact that I produce my computer work with 3d tools unless it is necessary to do do so. All that matters in the end in my case is how good the work looks and if it meets the needs of the project. I love the 3d shop case study imformation that we get so often here on cgtalk. Thanks for this news sithwarlord and Floyd Bishop. It was really informative 3d business wise.
And I love the robot designs. Looks like it will be an interesting animation.

Looks fantastic! Great voice cast, too! Drew Carey and Jami Kennedy:thumbsup:
Side note: Too bad about that guy who is in Pirates of the Caribbean dying. I happened to read that on the first link. That'sa the problem with most newer actors. Make a bit of money, go by some heroin and/or crack and that's it. Game over. Hopefully the robots handle their fame more responsibly:hmm:
it's great that more and more computer animated films are being made. Not too many yet that they are going to suck (it will happen someday) either.

It sounds like a cut and clever idea. I am surprised that nobody has tried to make a feture lenght movie about robots...
After all they are a snap to do in cg!

Sweet..I got to see some animation tests from this and it's definitely going to be outstanding. Really inventive and unique designs, especially for the city. Bluesky are my second favorites next to Pixar, they just kick ass. Can't wait to see it.

Ok, this is off topic but it's the kind of thing that makes me furious!!!
following the first link, I found out about NYC's Licensing International 2003 Show.
That's the first time I heard of it! I live in New York and I would have gone. I can't now, but if I knew about it even a week ago I would have gone.
Isn't there a list of events and trade shows around the world for professional graphics? It seems to me that there should be one!
if anyone knows of this list please post it.

From the article:
"Wedge hasn't totally put talking animals on ice, however. He is co-producing a sequel to Ice Age and the original's popular breakout, the nut-obsessing Scrat, could go solo. Says the man who sniffs, scratches and screeches for the jittery critter, "There is new Scrat potential out there."
:applause: :bounce: My favorite character is going solo , thank you Bluesky

Actually, one did. Midland Productions tried to make one in the late 90's. I worked on it for a little bit as a model sheet artist--this was before I even knew how to use Photoshop. That was the first time I'd seen Maya(the entire studio used Maya). The production was called Robots of Mars.
And boy, did it suck. The writing was an abomination, and the entire crew knew it--only the director/producer seemed to think otherwise. . ..
Of course they never finished it. To see this horrific thing, follow this link: http://www.midlandpro.com/main.html
